Any of you that have followed my blog over
the last 3 years, know the story of the
lemon tree that is in our yard, still growing,
and how our daughter, Heidi grew it from a seed.
We were told by the nursery that because
this tree was never grafted, it would
not produce lemons. This was over 15 years ago,
and we are still getting lemons from this
tree twice a year. Blooms are already present
as we harvested only a portion of the lemons
yesterday. The bees are so busy pollenating.

Not just any lemons. Take a look at this:
The lemon on the right, one from a store.
The lemon on the left, grown from our tree.
I look at these, and am so totally amazed.
It just goes to show you, that God has the
final say in what can and will be grown.

The love of a child, and her desire to grow
something beautiful from a seed.

Can you see them peeking out from the leaves
and branches? The sun was shining and a
beautiful 74 degrees. Such a perfect day for
HARVESTING.

I crawled up under the tree to give you a closer look.
They are just everywhere. Look, just look.
Just waiting to be chosen. Pick me. Pick me.
At the far end of the pool, my handsome
Bruiser sat in the patio chair,
under the shade of the umbrella,
just watching and waiting. He wanted
to play ball. Isn't he precious?

We picked 150 pounds yesterday and
still have about 1/3 of the tree to harvest.
Just look at all these babies. We had already
given 1 of the large buckets away and another
bag to one of the neighbors before I grabbed
the camera to get a picture. I have also
already taken 70 pounds of lemons to work
to share with co-workers. It has been a very
good season.
I only wish I could share with each of you. Trust me
they are delicious. Lemon pie? Lemon cookies?
Lemon tea - yum my favorite. I am going to be very
busy in the next few weeks.
As always,
thank you for stopping by,
my little piece of heaven,
here in the desert,
that I so love to call home.
Country hugs and much love,

Oh Sherry! This post popped up in my reader and I just started drooling! I would love to have a fresh lemon tree! Not ever going to happen here in Michigan. Your lemons looks so yummy! Hum, I wonder if I can talk Troy into running to the grovery store to get a few. I know this bad but, give me a good fresh lemon and a shaker of salt and I am one happy camper!
Wow that is a lot of lemons! Please have a slice of lemon pie for me, or lemon bars that is my favorite!

SHERRY!!!!!!!I saw your comment over at Penny's blog and I had to come to see you! I am so so sorry to hear that you were ill again my dear. It has got to be hard to deal with bronchitis. I had a cough that lasted for 2 months, but this cold was a strange one that several teachers got. I WISH YOU WELL MY DEAR and those lemons are SUPERSIZED!!!!!!! It reminds me of the lemon tree my parents had. What fantastic lemon meringue pie my mom used to make!!! LOVE! Anita
That is so cool! That proves, tree planted with love will bear fruit :D

Oh my gosh Sherry that is alot of yummy lemons!! I was so disappointed that the lemons were not ready when we were there for Christmas. We usually go to AZ in end of Jan and can usually find some.
I did win a box from a blogging friend and so was able to make my candied lemon peels- have you ever had any? They are so yummy- have the recipe on my blog if you are interested in it.
Gosh it has been a long time-just can't seem to keep up with everything but enjoy your posts!

Oh Sherry, what a wonderful crop of lemons you have!! It is amazing! Throw me some over the border, will ya? lol I just can't get over the size of the ones growing on your tree and that's too funny about the nursery having told you years ago that your tree would never produce any. Makes you wish you could bring one to that person now and show them! lol It's 7F here right now so it's no wonder we can't grow lemon trees in my little corner of the world:-) xoxo
Oh, I can just smell them now! I need a lemon pie quick! It is so nice to be able to share such a wonderful bounty. Yes, God does decide what grows doesn't he. Hope you are feeling better.Have fun makind all those delicious lemon treats.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a "sour" post, lol....but it's not, it's a happy one. I'm so happy your happy about your lemon tree. I do remember it last year. You could easily give out a bustle and a peck to all your readers Miss Sherry, lol. Three times over I think...
I hope you are feeling better. I've been keeping low. Not enjoying fb or blogging anymore. It's a faze I guess. We all have them.
It's Riley's 21st, birthday today. I sent him to work with a home baked cake. It's mom's 93rd on Friday. I miss her terribly, but the sun is shining, and the sky is blue. It's 26 out and we have a nice white blanket of snow on the ground. The pups are all sleeping in their beds and I have the house to myself today. What more could I ask for?
Sending you love Sherri.
Love Claudie

Awesome bunch of lemons girl. Lemon pie for me. I can't believe the tree is so huge. I bet the smell is so nice around there. I want a lemon tree.
I found you again! You were once lost but I found you again Sherry and I'm so glad. Your girl with the curl is here. I found your post on Penny's blog at Angelsdoor. I have no idea what happened on my favorites list once upon a time but my blog list was gone and you were on it. For the life of me I could not remember your blog name and I've looked and looked for you.
Blessings my friend,
I have missed you. I hope you got my card at Christmas, I read you were ill.
You have enough lemons to make lemonade out of any sour thing that comes your way!
Love sent,
Jacqueline
Once Upon a Fairyland
Sherry, This story about the lemon try is miraculous! Look at all those lemons...your daughter has a green (maybe yellow?) thumb. So, what do you do with all of the lemons...I know what I would do...lemon chicken, lemon pasta, lemonade, lemon pie...I could be the Bubba Gump of lemons..lol!!
Wow! Those lemons are terrific! God is always in control and He shows us His handiwork! I have a slice of lemon with my cold tea, with my hot tea and with my water! I love lemons! Fresh only! No fake stuff from the bottle at the store! Ugh!
I wish I were near. I would come help pick those lemons. You are such a generous lady sharing with your co workers and neighbors! Love the post! Anne
